Dm7 Tuning – Key of D Natural Minor

Hello alt tuning lovers and those of you not ready to fully commit. I’m glad you’re here!

Here are the open string notes for Dm7 tuning:

D F# B F# A D

This tuning differs from yesterday’s tuning by changing string 2 from A# to A. The other change from yesterday’s tuning is that I use a capo on the third fret which changes my open/capo notes to:

F A D A C F

The video below is a song I wrote today called “Riding The Highway,” featuring the Dm7 Tuning in the key of D Natural Minor:

Here are the scale notes, numbers, scale degrees and intervals I’m playing:

May these daily alt tunings continue to inspire you as you explore songwriting beyond the limitations of standard tuning. If you’d like to learn more about making alt tuning a part of your songwriting, give me a call at 888-7-GUITAR or reach out to me here.

Until next time…
